Below are the seven (7) crucial Stages from arrival to camp and guidelines:
Stage 1
At the gate: Right at the gate that allows entrance into the camp, the camp security men would demand you show them your “Call-up Letter“; when you show them, they will search your luggage and, depending on the method adopted by your camp management, give you a tag number, and maybe asked to jog in
Stage 2
Bed Space/Hostel: From the entrance gate, proceed to the second registration point where you would be allocated a hostel and bed space. At this stage, they would collect the tag number if not before, that is, if any wasn’t given to you by the gate security men. Your name will be asked for and confirm; after which a bed space would be allocated to you.
After taking out the camp required documents, locate your bed space and drop your luggage(at owners risk) and proceed to the next stage 3.
Stage 3
Verification: At this stage you would be required to provide the original of the following documents (Of course you must have made about six photo copies for each of): Call-up leter, Statement of result, Green card, School I.D card, Addendum and the Medical certificate of fitness. After verification and confirmation, then proceed to
Stage 4
Biometric Registration: At this stage, they will take your thumb print; if match with the one you did at cyber café. They will cross check your information; if everything matched, then they will determine the platoon you belong. And you will be given, “Camp Corps Member Registration Slip” and Temporary I.D, Certificate format, Performance report form, and Bio-data form.
Locate the photo copy centre and make two photocopies of the slip, and keep the slip for further use.
Check the last digit number in your state code. It ranges from, 0 to 9.
0 is platoon 10;
1 is platoon 1;
2 is platoon 2;
3 is platoon 3

.
.
9 is platoon 9.
Stage 5
Platoon: All platoon will be directed to gather at different locations.
Your platoon officer will be there to receive you.
Locate your platoon with the camp corps member registration slip, Green Card, Call up letter, statement of result, to get your file, Meal ticket, and NYSC Kits.
Stage 6
Bank acct opening: This is a later stage activity all PCMs would be required to open a new bank account…
Stage 7
First parade:
“Pam…papa pam…; pam papa pam…; pi…po…pi…po…pam…papa paaaaaah” when you hear this sound from military trumpet, usually by 4:00am, those who have completed their registration and are kitted in white camp kits must head to the parade ground for the very first parade.
Then you can see the timetable, get use to the environment and boring lectures.
Anyway enjoy yourself, service is only done once and orientation camp is a big part of it and toward the end of the stressful 21 days it will be like it should be extended.
CODE AND CONDUCT DURING THE PERIOD OF ORIENTATION (part 2)
11. Not take part in mob action
Consequences. Any member who takes part in riot or mob action shall be reported to the police for prosecution.
12. Not steal.
Consequences. Any member who steals shall be reported to the police for prosecution
13. Not take part in or organized night parties in camp without the written permission of the State Coordinator.
Consequences. Any member who fails, refuses or neglects to comply with this rule shall be tried by the Camp Court and, if found guilty, be liable to extra drill and/or confinement to the camp rehabilitation room for thirty (30) minutes.
14. Not be insubordinate or rude to camp officials
Consequences. Any member who is rude to camp officials shall be tried by the Camp Court and, if found guilty, be liable to extension of service for (30) days on half pay
15. Not be in possession of Hard drugs like cocaine, Indian hemp, heroine etc.
Consequences. Any member who is in possession of Hard drugs shall be reported to the police for prosecution.
16. Not bring vehicles or motorcycles into the orientation camp.
Consequences. Any member who brings vehicles or motorcycles to camp shall not be registered, and if already registered, shall be decamped. Such member shall only be allowed to return to service to join the next batch in the orientation camp
15. Not bring forged documents for registration
Consequences. Any member who brings forged document for registration shall be reported to the police for prosecution.
16. Any member who organizes or engages in any form of secret cult activity shall be immediately suspended and the case referred to police.
Consequences. Such member shall be allowed to return to service only if he is exonerated by the police investigation report.
17. Not address the press on any policy issue without the prior written consent of the State Coordinator.
Consequences. Any member who addresses the press on any policy issue without the written consent of the State Coordinator shall be tried by the Camp Court and, if found guilty, be liable to extension of service for thirty (30) days on half pay.

Happy Sunday everyone, in this post we will be sharing on the best use of your, one in a life time camp activities. If you think about that for a minute alone, you will know it is not worth it complaining all through this one time experience
We will focus on group & activities that can make the NYSC Orientation Camp worth it, as you can get you connection for relocation, money, posting & particularly time away the sunny parade ground
Three weeks “orientation” period spent in a military-controlled boot “camp” away from family & friends, can be nothing but a beginning of many things for you, if you join places to increase your luck
1. Join the important groups
It is one thing to be in camp, it is another to be part of the important activities
a. Join OBS
The Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS) is a great way to serve while in the camp. A very important unit of the camp, it will offer you opportunities to not only develop your editorial & media skills, you will get to know the key officers in the camp. It also gives you a measure of authority & allows you to get an exemption from some of the camp activities which you may be averse to
b. Join Man o war
They are the special squad that welcomes dignitaries to the camp, after the quarter guards have saluted them, they are also rewarded for this duty and can keep you away from the sun on the parade ground
That are likewise trained to lead the fellow platoon members in man o war activities, it is not a serious work like that, you will have fun singing, dancing & jumping
c. Quarter guard & parade leader
This is not always fun, but if you have experience with matching before, it will be easy for you. You can get connected if you excel also at this
d. NCCF/Muslim Corpers Exco
The whole essence of all this group is been active and there is no other place your been active can be rewarding than in your religious setting executive team
2. Run a small business
You can actually make money while at the orientation camp. You can offer services such as hair dressing or laundry to others in the camp who need them for a fee or you can rent a stall at the Mami market and sell food items which most corpers need from day to day. It is a great way to hone your business skills before you are launched into the labour market
3. Do an online course
The orientation period does not have to be all activities and socializing, you can further develop yourself on the side by registering and going through a short online course during your stay. The good thing about online learning is that it is flexible so you can actually plan it around the time that you will be leaving the camp
4. Socialize and actually meet new people
The NYSC scheme was originally established to encourage oneness among citizens in the country & promote national unity. By sending these individuals to other states, the expectation is that they mix with people of other tribes, social & family backgrounds and learn the culture of the indigenes in the place they are posted. Rather than sticking to yourself all through the orientation process, use your spare time to actually fraternize and get to know the people in your platoon & camp as a whole. You would be surprised how many new things you will learn about Nigeria & what connections you may make for the future
5. Start applying for jobs/Publish project
The orientation period is not too early a time to start sending out your CVs to potential employers. The NYSC orientation can actually serve as an avenue for corpers to share job information and career resources, so take advantage of that and start early. No better time to publish your work. It always come out helpful
Note: that many of the camp officials you see are NYSC staff, that person might be your LGI, assistant LGI or something. So be nice to them, and be on the lookout for good PPA opportunities
